The Prime Minister of Palestine, Dr. Hamdallah, paid a visit to Germany. His security adviser Major General Mohammad Jebrini, member of the delegation from Palestine, used this opportunity to see the University of Applied Police Sciences for a second time. He had been here six years ago and, obviously, he must have liked it. General Jebrini, this time accompanied by Mr. Nasser Mansour from the Palestine Consulate and by Michael Niemeier from the Federal Foreign Office, showed again a strong interest in the police training on our campus. The introduction to our police training and studies covered the structure of our federal system of police work in Germany, the areas of competence for the different police forces and the guidelines of police training at our university. The blue-box-shooting range was shown as well as other facilities on the campus so that the delegation experienced how close to reality training courses are conducted here, and of course, we talked about the history of the location and that we are here to make police officers aware how important it is to respect the dignity of man in order to build a stable relationship of trust with the society.
This finally led to an intense and very friendly exchange of views and comments on the above mentioned topics. General Jebrini expressed his great respect for the commitment of The University of Applied Police Sciences of the Brandenburg state to tighten international relationships and to enforce the cooperation with foreign partners, e.g. the university’s involvement in exchange programs of students and members of staff and the deployment of Brandenburg state officers in police missions abroad. Rainer Grieger, President of The University of Applied Police Sciences and his members of staff happily answered the many questions of General Jebrini related to our efforts to ensure the highest possible standard of education and training at our academic institution. The General expressed his high appreciation for the very close cooperation between his country and the Brandenburg state. He also mentioned the effectiveness of the police training courses which officers from Brandenburg have been conducting in his state. He referred to the two projects at the Police Academy of Jericho which had been initiated by the former Federal State Prime Minister Matthias Platzeck. The International Centre of The University of Applied Police Sciences handed over the Training Manual of that project in Arabic to the General as a piece of memory of this great project. The General expressed the desire of Palestine to engage in future bilateral projects.
The entire coming together of the Delegation from Palestine and the representatives of the German State of Brandenburg took place in a very friendly and warm-hearted atmosphere, and the General smiled a lot when the welcome photography from the same day was handed over to him in paper form at the end of the day.
